D.A.R.E. Works Foothills Society

  • A registered charity in the MD of Foothills just south of Calgary, Alberta
  • Raises the funds needed to deliver the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program to grade five/six students in the Foothills School Division 
  • Annually serves more than 500 students in 12 schools and 10 Foothills communities.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education

  • A ten lesson prevention and life skills program
  • Delivered by specially-trained police officers to teach students:
  • effective skills for recognizing and resisting social pressures to experiment with tobacco, alcohol drugs and bullying
  • positive alternatives to substance use
  • risk assessment and decision making skills
  • interpersonal and communication skills
